iLovePDF bundles a lot of PDF tools into one polished site. Here's an honest look at what changes when the whole thing runs locally instead.
iLovePDF is a broad, well-built toolbox — merge, split, compress, convert, rotate, even e-sign — wrapped in a clean, easy-to-use interface that non-technical users find approachable. If you need e-signatures or OCR on scanned documents at scale, its paid tiers cover a lot of ground.
The free tier's limits are the usual ones for a cloud PDF service: a cap on how many tasks you can run per day and on file size, your documents are uploaded to their servers to be processed, and some workflows nudge you toward a Premium subscription. For sensitive documents (contracts, IDs, financial paperwork), uploading to a third party is also something worth being deliberate about.
Kaira Prime's PDF toolkit handles merge, split, reorder/rotate/delete pages, and image↔PDF conversion entirely in your browser — your document is never sent anywhere. Because nothing runs on a server, there's no daily task cap. What it doesn't do (yet): e-signatures and OCR on scanned PDFs, which are genuine iLovePDF strengths if you need them.
